DaysofPal- Palestinian media sources stated on Thursday morning that Israeli special forces kidnapped Tasnīm al-Hums, a nurse and daughter of Dr. Marwan al-Hums, during her shift at a medical point in al-Mawasi, Khan Younis, in southern Gaza.
According to family accounts, a covert Israeli unit stormed the facility and seized Tasnīm from her workplace, repeating the same method used months earlier against her father, who remains imprisoned in the Israeli jails.
On July 21, Israeli forces had abducted Dr. Marwan al-Hums, the director of Abu Yūsuf al-Najjar Hospital and head of Gaza’s field hospitals, while he was visiting the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) field hospital west of Khan Younis. During the operation, his ambulance driver was also injured.
Later, human rights advocates confirmed that Dr. al-Hums was transferred to Ashkelon prison, after being shot in the leg during his arrest.
Alaʾ al-Sakafī, director of al-Damir Human Rights Foundation, revealed that Israeli authorities continue to deny him access to his lawyer and have extended his detention until July 31, 2025, describing it as a blatant violation of international humanitarian and legal standards.
The Gaza Ministry of Health condemned the abductions, stressing that the Israeli occupation is systematically targeting and disappearing medical staff.
The ministry reported that 361 Palestinian healthcare workers are currently held in Israeli prisons under similar circumstances.
Human rights organizations have warned that the enforced disappearances of medical professionals in Gaza not only violate the protections afforded to healthcare under international law but also deepen the humanitarian crisis facing the war-torn territory.
