DaysofPal- The Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, strongly condemned the Israeli interception of the “Flotilla of Steadfastness” in international waters, describing the move as an act of piracy and maritime terrorism against civilians and international activists.

In a press statement issued late Wednesday, Hamas said the Israeli navy’s assault on the flotilla, which carried international activists and journalists on a humanitarian mission to deliver urgent aid to besieged Gaza, constitutes a “treacherous attack and a new crime added to the black record of the occupation.”

Hamas stressed that the interception and arrests of flotilla participants, including journalists, was a “criminal act” that must be denounced worldwide.

It praised the courage of the activists who risked their safety to challenge the Israeli blockade and deliver aid to Palestinians enduring a “two-year campaign of genocide and systematic starvation.”

Hamas urged global solidarity movements to organize protests and popular actions condemning the Israeli navy’s actions, saying such efforts are vital to amplify international outrage.

The Movement also called on the United Nations and the wider international community to fulfill their legal and moral obligations by protecting the flotilla participants, ending the Israeli blockade and “genocidal policies” against Gaza, and holding Israeli leaders accountable for crimes “against all humanity.”
