Israeli prison service transferred several Palestinian hunger-striking prisoners into solitary confinement on Wednesday morning, March 22, 2023.
The commission of Palestinian detainees and ex-detainees reported that Israeli occupation authorities started implementing abusive measures against prisoners on hunger strikes.
“Israeli occupation authorities isolated leaders of the High National Emergency Committee for Palestinian Prisoners without providing details of their whereabouts,” the commission said.
In a statement on Wednesday, the commission pointed out that six prisoners from Rimon, Galboua, Nafha, and Niqab prisons have been transferred to an unknown destination.
Earlier on Tuesday, leaders of the Emergency Committee of the Palestinian prisoners declared an open-ended hunger strike, indicating that up to 2,000 prisoners and more will join in the days to come.
With only freedom as their motto, the Palestinian prisoners demanded an end to the Israeli repressive measures practiced by the new fascist government.
Meanwhile, The Palestinian prisoners’ information center released an audio recording of Palestinian prisoners shouting: “Freedom, freedom, freedom!”
Israeli occupation authorities have declared new suffocating restrictions on Palestinian prisoners since the start of 2023. The measures included reducing the prisoners’ use of water and bread, increasing search operations, and depriving prisoners of treatment.
Earlier in February, a statement by the High National Emergency Committee for Palestinian Prisoners pointed out that prisoners will continue disobedience and go through an open-ended hunger strike by the start of the holy month of Ramadan.
Palestinian figures showed that about 4,780 Palestinian prisoners, affected by Israel’s punitive measures, are held inside Israeli jails, including 160 children, and 29 females.
In solidarity with prisoners, Palestinian masses in the occupied West Bank and Gaza Strip take part in protests, denouncing Israeli oppression.
