An Israeli newspaper revealed on Tuesday night, June 13, 2023, that the Planning and Building Committee is set to approve the construction of thousands of settlement units, despite American opposition.
According to the Hebrew newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth, the committee will grant approval next week for the construction of 4,500 settlement units in various settlements.
Among them, 3,238 units are in the tender stage, while 1,332 units will receive final approval for construction.
The newspaper reported that the construction will take place in several settlements, including the settlement of “Rafafa” near Salfit, where 381 settlement units will be approved for construction.
Additionally, 343 units will be approved for construction in the nearby “Alkana” settlement, along with 340 units in the “Ma’ale Adumim” settlement east of Jerusalem.
Furthermore, the newspaper stated that 234 settlement units will be approved for construction in the “Ma’ale Doutan” settlement, located north of the West Bank.
In recent days, settler leaders have been exerting pressure on the extremist minister, Tzachi Hanegbi, and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, to approve structural blueprints for construction in what they consider strategic locations.
