Israeli Occupation Strangleholds on Palestinian Christians During Holy Saturday

BBC: Israeli Attacks against Christians in Occupied Jerusalem Escalate

Israeli Occupation Forces hindered Saturday, April 15, 2023, Palestinian Christians’ access to the Old City of occupied Jerusalem, to celebrate the Holy Saturday, which precedes Easter.

Local sources reported that the occupation forces tightened their restrictions at the gates of the Old City, and prevented Palestinian Christians from entering except in small numbers, and those with entry permits to the Old City of occupied Jerusalem.

Moreover, Israeli occupation forces assaulted Christians celebrating Holy Saturday in the Old City and prevented dozens of Palestinians from entering the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.

It’s noteworthy that the Israeli occupation authorities had decided a few days ago to impose severe restrictions on the celebrations of Christians in the occupied city of Jerusalem on the “Holy Saturday” day, by setting up plenty of military checkpoints.

In addition to unbearable restrictions, Israel reduced the number of participating Palestinian Christians, as it informed churches’ leaders for the second year that it would restrict access to the church by reducing the number of attendees to 1,800 people, including the clergy.
