Days of Palestine – Jerusalem
The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) endorsed plans on Friday for building 820 new housing units in southern Jerusalem.
The IOF municipality’s so-called Local Planning and Building Committee said that the two-phased project would be carried out in the southern areas of Jerusalem.
The first stage would include the building of 330 housing units while in the second stage 490 housing units would be built.
The new housing units fall in line with the IOF plan of the so-called Greater Jerusalem, which covers 11% of the total area of the West Bank.
New Israeli Settlement Facility in Jordan Valley
A group of Jewish settlers started building a new settlement facility in the Al-Farisiya area in the Jordan Valley on Friday morning.
Local activist Aref Daraghmeh warned that the new settlement facility will pave the way to expelling the nearby Palestinian communities.
A few days ago, the Israeli occupation forces seized a number of Palestinian-owned vehicles and agricultural tractors in the area.
Al-Farisiya area has witnessed Israeli bulldozing operations over the past two months, aimed to build a “religious school” for the nearby Givat Sal’it settlement.
’Meanwhile, Hamas Movement condemned, in a statement issued today, the Israeli decision to build 820 settlement units on the ruins of a Palestinian building in Occupied Jerusalem.
The move came as a desperate attempt to impose full control over the occupied city of Jerusalem, the statement added.
This settlement project is a flagrant violation of all international laws, the Movement said, calling for an urgent and serious international stand against Israeli settlement expansion.
Hamas further called for foiling Israeli Judaization plans by escalating popular resistance.
