Israeli occupation provided Tuesday, 21 February 2023 notices to demolish five Palestinian-owned residential facilities in the occupied West Bank village of Aqaba, east of Tubas.
The Palestinian Human rights activist Aref Daraghmeh reported that the Israeli occupation provided notices of the demolition of four houses under construction belonging to the Palestinian citizens Ahmed Abdel-Karim, Amer Saleh Abdullah Saleh, Muhammad Abdullah Hassan Dabak, and Firas Abdel-Karim Dabak in addition to a mobile home owned by Palestinan student Yassin Talib, citing building without a permit as a pretext.
Daraghmeh explained that the decision of the Israeli occupation forces was based on military decision No. 1797, which allows the Israeli occupation forces to implement the demolition order within 96 hours.
Israeli occupation is trying in various ways to forcibly displace Palestinians from their own lands and demolish their homes in favor of settlement expansion, using pretexts most notably building without a permit.
During the first two months of 2023, Israeli occupation demolished 185 Palestinian-owned structures in the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem, according to the United Nations Organization for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in the Occupied Palestinian Territory (OCHA).
OCHA explained that the Israeli occupation carried out the demolition orders under the pretext of lacking a building permit. The organization noted that “it is almost impossible for Palestinians to obtain such or that permit.”
