Israeli occupation forces obstructed on Wednesday, August 2, 2023, restoration and renovation crews from continuing their work at the revered Al-Aqsa Mosque.
Israeli forces arrived at the site where the crews were commencing their restoration and forcefully halted their work.
Expert on Zionist affairs, Amjad Shihab, emphasized that Al-Aqsa Mosque is in dire need of restoration and maintenance for many of its facilities. He pointed out that the Israeli occupation intentionally refrains from renovating the mosque, leaving it to deteriorate.
Shihab further clarified that without urgent intervention to restore Al-Aqsa Mosque, more stones are at risk of collapsing. He highlighted that excavations in the vicinity and beneath the mosque are a major cause of the stone collapse.
Researcher and Jerusalem activist, Rasm Obeidat, stressed that Al-Aqsa Mosque faces a real threat from the right-wing extremist Israeli government, which seeks to impose its settler schemes.
He also pointed out that the Zionist occupation aims to assert its illusory sovereignty over the holy Al-Aqsa Mosque.
