The Israeli new government has directed three army reserve companies to fortify the Border Guards in the occupied Jerusalem in order to expedite the destruction of Palestinian homes. It is anticipated that the verdict regarding this matter will be ratified in the near future, as reported by Israeli public broadcaster KAN.

Itamar BenGvir, the National Security Minister from the farright party, has asked Yakov Shabtai, the Police Chief, to expedite the demolition process.

At first, Shabtai declined, arguing that the mission required the additional deployment of 300 officers due to the declining safety of the occupied city. It was reported that the two men had a heated exchange, as per Haaretz.

BenGvir reportedly submitted the proposal to the Cabinet, yet Shabtai, with other security officials rejecting it, declined to grant his appeal. Despite the extreme right-winger’s insistence, the police chief eventually gave in.
