DaysofPal — On the 583rd day of its ongoing war on Gaza, Israeli forces launched a wave of deadly airstrikes across the besieged territory, killing at least 71 Palestinians, most of them women and children, according to the Gaza Ministry of Health.
The strikes targeted residential homes, shelters, and even medical facilities, deepening the humanitarian catastrophe amid the near-total collapse of Gaza’s health system.
In one of the deadliest massacres overnight, Israeli warplanes bombed five populated homes in northern Gaza, killing over 50 people.
The homes belonged to the families of Moqbel in Jabalia, Al-Qatnani on Al-Ajarma Street, Sweilem in the Fallujah area, Al-Najjar near Abu Hussein School, and Khalla in Jabalia.
The death toll from Israel’s war on Gaza, which began on October 7, 2023, has now reached 52,908, with 119,721 injured — the vast majority of them women and children. Since the latest breakdown of the ceasefire on March 18, 2024, 2,780 Palestinians have been killed and 7,680 wounded.
Northern Gaza
Israeli airstrikes continued to pummel northern Gaza. In Jabalia refugee camp, four Palestinians were killed when Israeli missiles struck a school-turned-shelter — Al-Ayoubi School.
Simultaneous bombardment across Jabalia and surrounding areas killed at least 55 people. Ambulances struggled to reach the injured due to ongoing air raids.
Homes were bombed in Masoud Street and near Al-Yassin Mosque. Al-Awda Hospital reported the arrival of four children killed and at least 35 others wounded in those attacks.
Drone strikes targeted civilian gatherings near the Al-Asra Towers northwest of Nuseirat camp, causing additional injuries.
Southern Gaza
In Khan Younis, emergency teams recovered the bodies of four Palestinians killed in earlier Israeli attacks: Ibrahim Saad Al-Ajili, Mohammed Marwan Al-Aqqad, Khaled Jamal Al-Agha, and Ibrahim Youssef Al-Astal.
Later, airstrikes hit multiple districts including Al-Fukhari, Al-Mawasi, and Qizan Al-Najjar, killing 19 more civilians. Another strike near the European Gaza Hospital killed four people, including two children. The victims were identified as:
-
Mustafa Salah Al-Tawil
-
Issam Mustafa Salah Al-Tawil
-
Child Ahmed Mohammed Hamed Al-Bakri
-
Child Anas Mohammed Hamed Al-Bakri
Six members of the Abu Amouna family — including children and women — were killed in Al-Fukhari. Four members of the Al-Ghannam family, including both parents and their two daughters, were killed when Israeli forces bombed a tent for displaced families in Al-Mawasi.
Additional casualties were reported near the European Gaza Hospital, where three more people died from their injuries.
Gaza City Under Fire
In Gaza City, one person was killed in an Israeli strike on Nazier Street in Al-Shuja’iyya. In the Al-Zaytoun neighborhood, an Israeli quadcopter drone fired randomly at civilian homes. A series of unannounced airstrikes also hit eastern Gaza, targeting residential areas.
European Gaza Hospital
The situation near the European Gaza Hospital has become even more dangerous after Israeli warplanes launched a series of strikes around the facility. The bombardment targeted the area outside the emergency room, field hospitals, and the Palestine College of Nursing.
According to Gaza’s Civil Defense, the airstrikes resulted in a massacre: at least 28 people were killed and over 70 injured, many of them in critical condition. Dozens of others are still trapped or missing, as Israeli forces reportedly targeted anyone attempting rescue efforts.
The attack on the hospital, which is one of the few remaining partially functional medical centers, has pushed Gaza’s healthcare system closer to total collapse. Medical teams say the lack of safe access and the ongoing bombing have made it nearly impossible to treat the wounded or retrieve bodies from rubble.
The international community has so far remained largely silent, as Gaza endures one of the most devastating and prolonged assaults in modern history.
