‘Palestine Convoy’ Arrives in Montenegro as Cross-Border Solidarity Mission Continues Toward Gaza

PODGORICA – The “Palestine Convoy” arrived in Podgorica, the capital of Montenegro, on Tuesday, marking another milestone in its overland journey from France to express solidarity with the Palestinian people and draw international attention to Israel’s ongoing siege and military assault on the Gaza Strip.

The convoy, composed of activists from 10 European countries, met with local supporters at a mural in the Montenegrin capital dedicated to Palestine and carrying the slogan “Montenegro Stands with Palestine.”

Participants and residents gathered to reaffirm their support for the Palestinian people and to call for an end to Israel’s blockade of Gaza and the humanitarian catastrophe that continues despite the ceasefire agreement reached in October 2025.

A growing international solidarity initiative

Organizers describe the convoy as a peaceful, international grassroots movement that brings together activists and civil society groups from across Europe rather than representing a single organization.

The mission is expected to continue its 20-day journey through Turkey, stopping in Istanbul, Ankara, Konya, Diyarbakir, and Mardin, before traveling through Iraq and Jordan on its way toward Palestine.

According to organizers, the decision to travel by land follows previous international solidarity initiatives that attempted to reach Gaza by both sea and land. They say the overland route allows the campaign to grow at every stop by organizing public events, attracting new supporters, and maintaining international attention throughout the journey.

Calls to end the occupation and siege

The organizers say the initiative is built around three core demands they describe as “clear and non-negotiable.”

These include ending Israel’s occupation of the occupied West Bank, halting settlement expansion and military attacks against Palestinians, repealing Israeli legislation concerning the death penalty for Palestinians, and implementing United Nations resolutions protecting Palestinian rights, while rejecting policies that could force Palestinians from the occupied West Bank toward Jordan.

Where logistical conditions permit, the convoy also plans to transport humanitarian aid and ambulances to Gaza in response to the worsening humanitarian crisis caused by Israel’s ongoing military campaign and blockade.

The initiative comes as Israel continues its military offensive on the Gaza Strip, carrying out daily attacks that continue to kill and wound Palestinians while maintaining severe restrictions on the entry of food, medicine, medical supplies, fuel, and shelter materials despite the ceasefire.

Passage to Gaza remains uncertain

Organizers acknowledge that reaching the convoy’s final destination is not guaranteed.

Its passage depends on approvals from the governments of countries along the route, and organizers say they remain in contact with authorities in Iraq, Jordan, and several European countries, as well as international organizations, in an effort to secure safe passage.

Some operational details have been withheld for security reasons.

While the convoy has become a prominent cross-border solidarity initiative highlighting international support for Palestine, its arrival in Gaza ultimately remains dependent on political decisions by the states controlling the transit route.
