DayofPal– The Israeli army attacked with a series of airstrikes the European Hospital in Khan Younis, just hours after a deadly assault on the Nasser Hospital.
At least 16 people were confirmed killed and over 70 others injured in the earlier attack, while the full scale of casualties from the European Hospital bombing remains uncertain.
The Israeli army, in coordination with the domestic intelligence agency Shin Bet, confirmed responsibility for the strike. In a statement, the military alleged that the hospital was being used by Hamas as a covert “command-and-control centre” located underground.
However, no tangible evidence was provided to substantiate the claim.
Local sources report scenes of carnage, with eyewitnesses describing a “massacre” in the hospital’s emergency yard. Several bodies remain unaccounted for beneath the rubble, and fears are mounting that the death toll could rise significantly.
The strikes reportedly involved at least six missiles and also hit a residential home adjacent to the hospital complex, which was inhabited at the time.
The targeting of medical facilities marks a grim continuation of the wat’s toll on Gaza’s civilian infrastructure, drawing renewed concern from international observers and humanitarian agencies.
The World Health Organization and other aid groups have previously warned that the health system in Gaza is nearing total collapse under the weight of repeated strikes and a worsening humanitarian crisis.
This latest bombardment has further strained emergency response efforts in the besieged territory, where access to critical care and safe refuge continues to diminish by the hour.
