The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) released nin Palestine prisoners from the Gaza Strip on Saturday morning, after spending several months behind Israeli bars in very difficult detention conditions.
The nine prisoners arrived at the Israeli-controlled Kerem Abu Salem crossing in coordination with the Red Cross. They were later transferred to the European Gaza Hospital.
The newly-released prisoners were identified as: Muhammad Mahmoud Abdel Fattah Abdel Nabi, Suhail Saif al-Din al-Sak, Khaled Hatem Abdel Nabi, Sami Nabih al-Sufi, and Muhammad Rami Tafesh.
Since the start of the Israeli genocidal war on October 7, 2023, the IOF troops have arrested thousands of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip, including children, the elderly, and women.
According to the Palestinian Prisoners and Ex-Prisoners Affairs Authority, more than 2,500 prisoners from the Gaza Strip are currently held in Israeli prisons, mainly in Sde Teiman, Antot, Ofer, and the Negev.
The UN Human Rights Office earlier published a report on arbitrary, prolonged and incommunicado detention by Israeli authorities, affecting thousands of Palestinians since last October. The report also covered allegations of torture and other forms of cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment, including sexual abuse of women and men.
