IOF Notify Palestinians to Stop Residential Buildings’ Construction in Occupied Jericho

S.K | DOP -

The Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) notified Palestinians Wednesday, March 22, 2023 to stop construction in a number of residential buildings in the village of Al-Jiftlik, north of occupied Jericho.

The official in charge of the settlement resistance file in Jericho and the Jordan Valley, Muhammad Ghrouf, said that the occupation forces stormed the village of Al-Jiftlik, and notified 15 Zinko-roofed, Palestinian-owned homes, some of which have been standing for decades, to halt construction.

He added that the houses belong to the Palestinian families of Jahalin, Najajra and Tamamra.

Israeli occupation is trying in various ways to forcibly displace Palestinians from their own lands and demolish their homes in favor of settlement expansion, using pretexts most notably building without a permit.

During the first two months of 2023, Israeli occupation demolished 185 Palestinian-owned structures in the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem, according to the United Nations Organization for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in the Occupied Palestinian Territory (OCHA).

OCHA explained that the Israeli occupation carry out the stop-construction and demolition orders under the pretext of lacking a building permit. The organization noted that “it is almost impossible for Palestinians to obtain such or that permit.”
