Hamas Movement said Saturday that the insisting of the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) on holding the flag march tomorrow in Jerusalem will cost Israel a heavy price.

In a statement, the movement warned that violating the sanctity of the Al-Aqsa Mosque would be a reason to start a war.

Abdul Latif Al-Qanun, the Hamas spokesperson, said that any prejudice against Al-Aqsa Mosque or an attempt to change the status quo will provoke a new war with the occupation, and we will protect Al-Aqsa with our lives.

Meanwhile, the head of Hamas’s foreign political bureau Khaled Mishaal called on Arab and Muslim masses to march en masse on Sunday in defense of the Al-Aqsa Mosque against the Jewish settlers’ flag march.

“The flag march is part of the Israeli persisting plans to control the Al-Aqsa Mosque and change the status quo at the holy site,” Mishaal said in his speech at the Palestine Scholars conference, which was held in Istanbul on Saturday to discuss means of confronting the flag march.

Mishaal confirmed that the Palestinian people will continue to defend the holy site at all costs and foil such Israeli plans, stressing that the Al-Aqsa Mosque is a place of worship for Muslims only and does not accept division.

“The latest developments in the Al-Aqsa Mosque amidst the unprecedented international inaction require decisive decisions and battles to protect the holy site,” Mishaal added.

He called on the Arab and Muslim countries to assume their responsibility by ending normalization with Israel and defending the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
