The Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza stated on Saturday, January 4, 2023, that the Israeli occupation deprives 40% of Palestinian cancer patients in the Gaza Strip of treatment opportunities abroad, which is their basic right.
Khaled Thabet, Head of the Oncology Department at the Ministry of Health in Gaza, stated that in conjunction with World Cancer Day, which falls on February 4 of each year.
Thabet said, “Israel denies 40 percent of cancer patients in the Strip their right to treatment abroad.”
He added, “Cancer patients in the Strip face multiple challenges that exacerbate their health conditions.”
“The most prominent challenges are the Israeli restrictions that deny patients their right to treatment and prevent the entry of necessary medicines for them,” Thabet concluded.
It’s noteworthy that the Israeli occupation is still preventing the entry of medical equipment into Gaza, which impedes the work of the health sector in the Strip and exacerbates the health crisis.
