DaysofPal—The Ministry of Health in Gaza has issued an urgent warning about a catastrophic famine and deadly massacres targeting thousands of starving civilians near American aid distribution centers, described locally as “death traps.”
In a statement released Saturday, the ministry said the Gaza Strip is facing a real and worsening famine, marked by severe shortages of basic food supplies and a sharp increase in acute malnutrition. The crisis is compounded by a complete collapse of medical capabilities to treat hunger-related illnesses.
Medical teams have recorded a significant rise in hunger-related deaths, as starvation and malnutrition claim increasing numbers of lives each day.
According to the ministry, Nasser Medical Complex received the bodies of 32 people killed since dawn today, along with dozens of injured individuals. All were victims of an Israeli attack targeting civilians at American aid distribution sites in southern Gaza.
The Health Ministry warned of an unprecedented health and humanitarian disaster if the international community remains silent in the face of such atrocities.
It called on the international community, UN agencies, and human rights organizations to take immediate and concrete action to halt the massacres and open humanitarian corridors for the safe and regular delivery of food, medicine, and fuel.
Since March 2, the Israeli occupation has closed all crossings into Gaza and continues to prevent the entry of humanitarian aid, triggering skyrocketing prices of essential food items and widespread shortages across local markets.
The statement adds to growing alarm from humanitarian agencies and rights groups over the ongoing Israeli siege and military campaign in Gaza, which has created one of the worst food crises in modern history.
