The Head of Hamas’s political bureau Ismail Haneyya has stressed that Israeli occupation threats to assassinate Palestinian leaders will not stop the Palestinian people from defending their holy sites until they liberate Jerusalem and regain their rights, including the right of return and freedom.

“The Palestinians will not stand idle by while Israel violates the holy Islamic sites in Occupied Jerusalem without any consideration to the Arab and Islamic Ummah’s feelings,” Haneyya said in a press statement late on Thursday night following the Elad attack near Tel Aviv, which left three Israelis killed and others injured on Thursday evening.

Israeli threats to assassinate Hamas leaders followed the attack that was carried out by a Palestinian young man in response to the massive Israeli raids on the Al-Aqsa Mosque earlier on Thursday morning.

“Al-Aqsa Mosque, which is the third holiest site in Islam, is a red line and does not accept division. It will remain a place of worship for Muslims only,” Haneyya affirmed.
