DaysofPal— Hamas Movement said that the Israeli occupation is committing horrific massacres against civilians in the Gaza Strip and exploiting global attention on regional conflicts to intensify its military operations.
Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem said on Monday that Israeli forces carried out deadly attacks against civilians in Gaza, including a strike on a group of people west of Gaza City shortly before the evening iftar meal on Sunday.
According to Qassem, an Israeli artillery bombardment early Monday also targeted tents sheltering displaced families, killing three women, including a journalist.
He described the attacks as a dangerous escalation and a blatant violation of the ceasefire agreement.
Qassem added that Israel was taking advantage of the world’s focus on the ongoing regional Israeli-US war on Iran and Lebanon to intensify its military campaign in Gaza and tighten the blockade on the territory by keeping border crossings closed, particularly the Rafah Crossing.
He further noted that the Israeli occupation is benefiting from the unconditional support from the United States to continue its military actions and violate the ceasefire while carrying out further attacks against civilians.
Qassem called on international mediators to intervene and pressure the Israeli occupation to halt its actions against Palestinians in Gaza, lift the blockade on the territory, and stop the repeated violations of international laws and norms, including attacks on displaced civilians and women.
