DayofPal– The ongoing blockade and restrictions on aid into Gaza have led to a devastating humanitarian crisis, with alarming shortages of food, water, and essential services, according to the Government Media Office in Gaza.
As of the latest update, approximately 90% of Gaza’s population is facing severe water scarcity, leaving the majority without reliable access to clean and drinkable water. This has been exacerbated by the lack of fuel, which has led to the shutdown of critical infrastructure such as wells and desalination plants.
The situation in Gaza is dire, with 80% of the population unable to access food due to the closure of land crossings, causing widespread food insecurity. Meanwhile, the scarcity of bread has worsened as a result of 25% of Gaza’s bakeries halting operations, and many others are on the brink of closure due to a fuel shortage.
Waste management and road clearance programs, which are vital for maintaining basic sanitation and public health, have largely come to a standstill. Municipalities have been forced to prioritize fuel for operating water facilities, further exacerbating the public suffering as refuse piles up in the streets and temperatures rise.
Adding to the crisis, medical facilities in Gaza are struggling with severe shortages of medicine and supplies, putting the lives of over 150,000 patients, including those with chronic diseases and war injuries, at greater risk.
Transportation and communication networks have been nearly paralyzed, leaving residents with little means of accessing or disseminating critical information.
The international community has called for urgent action to alleviate the suffering of the people of Gaza, but the ongoing blockade for the 13th day in a row continues to hinder relief efforts amid worsening conditions.
