DaysofPal- The Ministry of Health in Gaza announced on Saturday that hospitals across the territory received five bodies over the past 48 hours, including four newly killed Palestinians and one body recovered from beneath the rubble, in addition to 15 injured people.
In its latest statistical report, the ministry said that several victims remain trapped under destroyed buildings and in the streets. At the same time, ambulance and civil defense crews continue to face severe difficulties reaching them because of ongoing field conditions and movement restrictions in targeted areas.
On Friday evening, nine Palestinians, including a child, were injured after Israeli warplanes struck a house in the Al-Shati refugee camp west of Gaza City. The attack came shortly after residents of the home and the surrounding area were threatened and ordered to evacuate.
Gaza’s Civil Defense agency said the Israeli airstrike targeted a house belonging to the Al-Adham family, destroying the building and injuring nine people.
The agency added that the bombing caused extensive damage to dozens of nearby homes and buildings and ignited fires in several properties, raising fears that many families could be displaced because of the scale of destruction and the ongoing danger in the area. A medical source confirmed that the wounded were transferred to Al-Shifa Hospital in western Gaza City, including a child among the injured.
Witnesses said Israeli forces had warned residents that the house would be targeted and ordered the evacuation of the surrounding residential block.
According to eyewitness accounts, an Israeli drone initially fired a missile that failed to explode before an Israeli fighter jet later struck the house again, destroying it and setting it ablaze.
According to official figures released by the ministry, the total number of people killed since the ceasefire declared on October 10 has reached 850, alongside 2,433 injuries and 770 recovered bodies. The cumulative toll since the beginning of the Israeli genocidal campaign on October 7, 2023, has meanwhile risen to 72,736 killed and 172,535 injured.
The ministry also noted that 103 deaths were recently added to the cumulative statistics after their identities and records were officially verified by the committee responsible for approving casualty data since the beginning of May, reflecting the ongoing process of updating figures through field verification procedures.
