DayofPal— The United Nations said on Friday that nearly 40,000 Palestinians have been displaced across the occupied West Bank since the beginning of 2025 due to ongoing Israeli military and settler attacks.
Farhan Haq, deputy spokesperson for the UN secretary-general, cited data from the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) during a press briefing at UN headquarters in New York.
Haq said Israeli settler demolitions during the first week of May alone displaced 42 Palestinians, including 24 children.
He added that armed settlers, operating under the guard of the Israeli army, continue to carry out attacks against Palestinians and their property throughout the West Bank.
“The attacks target Palestinians and their property, who are the indigenous population of the area,” Haq said.
The occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, has witnessed escalating Israeli raids, arrests, shootings, and excessive use of force, alongside growing settler violence against Palestinians.
According to official Palestinian figures cited by the UN, at least 1,155 Palestinians have been killed in the West Bank since October 2023, while nearly 11,750 others have been injured and around 22,000 arrested.
