DaysofPal – French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot on Saturday denounced the deadly scenes surrounding food distribution in Gaza, calling them “a scandal, a disgrace, and a violation of human dignity.”
Barrot stressed that there is no justification for the ongoing Israeli military campaign against the Gaza Strip, joining a growing international chorus of condemnation against the U.S.-backed humanitarian aid mechanism that has been operational for over a month.
Sharp criticism is now being directed at the so-called “Humanitarian Gaza” initiative — an aid distribution effort jointly supported by the U.S. and Israel — which critics argue has become a death trap for Palestinians instead of a lifeline.
United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres warned that the American-led food delivery system is unsafe and contributing to civilian casualties. He also decried the strangulation of UN-led humanitarian operations, noting that even aid workers in Gaza are now facing starvation.
“The food search must not become a death sentence,” Guterres said during a Friday press conference in New York. He reiterated that Israel, as the occupying power, bears a legal obligation under international humanitarian law to facilitate the unimpeded delivery of aid.
Meanwhile, Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders) accused the Israeli-American distribution scheme of deliberately humiliating Palestinians, forcing desperate civilians to choose between starvation and risking their lives for a few supplies.
Over two million Palestinians in Gaza are facing an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe. With border crossings effectively sealed and critical supplies restricted, famine looms for the besieged population. International outrage continues to grow, as the crisis exposes deep failures in aid coordination and raises serious legal and ethical questions for those enabling the ongoing siege.
