DaysofPal – An Israeli drone strike carried out on Sunday in eastern Lebanon near the Syrian border killed four people, according to Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency.
The agency reported that an “Israeli enemy drone” targeted a vehicle along the Lebanese-Syrian border, stating that the bodies of four individuals were found inside the car that was hit.
On the same day, several Israeli soldiers crossed the Blue Line in southern Lebanon and entered Lebanese territory.
The National News Agency said two Israeli military vehicles stopped near the southern border. A number of soldiers disembarked, breached the Blue Line, and advanced briefly into Lebanese land in the al-Jidar–Darb al-Hourat area, southeast of the town of Mays al-Jabal. The patrol later withdrew and returned to the opposite side of the border.
The Blue Line is the boundary demarcated by the United Nations in 2000 to confirm Israel’s withdrawal from Lebanon.
In a related development, an Israeli drone crashed near the Husseiniya of Houla in southern Lebanon. No further details were provided. Later on Sunday afternoon, intermittent artillery shelling struck the al-Shallala area on the outskirts of the town of Aitaroun. The shelling coincided with machine-gun fire from the al-Malkiya site toward the town’s outskirts.
On Saturday, the Israeli military announced that it had launched several air raids on southern Lebanon, claiming the strikes targeted Hezbollah military sites and infrastructure. The National News Agency reported that Israeli warplanes carried out a series of airstrikes on the al-Humaila area on the outskirts of Houmine al-Fawqa in the Iqlim al-Tuffah region in the south of the country.
These attacks form part of repeated Israeli violations of the ceasefire agreement. Only days earlier, an Israeli force infiltrated the outskirts of the southern town of Odaisseh and detonated two buildings. Troops also entered the town of Kfar Kila and blew up another structure there. In addition, Israeli forces shelled the outskirts of Yaron, damaging two homes. Israeli aircraft continued to fly at low altitude over southern Lebanon.
