Joseph Borrell, the European Union foreign policy chief, told the Arab League in Cairo that Israel is opening a new front in the West Bank featured with massive destruction, unlimited killing and forceful displacement of Palestinians.
He Borrell argued that should the international community remain silent on the atrocities, the West Bank will become a new Gaza.
He added that Israeli President Benjamin Netanyahu’s government is working to make it impossible to create a future Palestinian state and that a ceasefire agreement initiated by US President Joe Biden is unlikely to be signed because “those waging the war have no interest in putting an end to it.”
UN Humanitarian and Reconstruction Coordinator to Gaza Sigrid Kaag also addressed the Arab body asserting that an immediate ceasefire must take place for the necessary humanitarian aid to enter the Gaza Strip.
Just less than a week after their withdrawal from a 10-day invasion that devastated most of the refugee camp and destroyed the main streets of the city, Israeli occupation forces have renewed assaults on Tulkarm.
Israeli bulldozers have demolished what remains of the city’s infrastructure and destroyed Palestinian properties.
According to the Ministry of Health, at least 10 civilian injuries have been reported so far as a result of this unexpected assault.
