DasyofPal—The Israeli decision to escalate its genocide and military operations in Gaza, fully occupy the city, and forcibly displace its population has sparked a wave of strong condemnation across Europe.

European officials issued urgent calls for the Israeli occupation to reverse its decision, warning of catastrophic consequences for civilians and clear violations of international law.

The Danish Foreign Minister urged the Israeli occupation to “immediately reverse its decision regarding Gaza,” warning that the current course of action only worsens the humanitarian crisis and endangers thousands of civilians.

The President of the European Commission stated that “the Israeli decision to extend its military operation in Gaza must be reconsidered,” emphasizing that “the release of ‘hostages’, immediate delivery of humanitarian aid, and a ceasefire are now urgent necessities.”

Moreover, the German Chancellor announced that Germany is suspending military equipment exports to the Israeli occupation that could be used in Gaza, asserting that ceasefire negotiations and the release of the Israeli prisoners are a top priority.

He also expressed “deep concern over the continued suffering of Gaza’s civilian population” and urged the Israeli occupation to refrain from any further steps toward annexing the West Bank.

In a related move, the Belgian Foreign Minister said he had summoned the Israeli ambassador to express Belgium’s “firm rejection of the occupation of Gaza and the resumption of settlement activity.”

The Spanish Foreign Minister condemned the Israeli plan, stating that it “will only bring more destruction and suffering,” and called for “a permanent ceasefire, immediate and widespread humanitarian access, and the release of hostages.”

The Swedish Foreign Minister warned that “any attempt to annex Gaza would constitute a violation of international law,” calling for an immediate end to hostilities.
Furthermore, the Dutch Foreign Minister stated that Israel’s decision “in no way contributes to the return of ‘hostages’.”

At the same time, the Norwegian Foreign Minister said that full Israeli control over Gaza would be “an unacceptable violation of international law.”

In response, the Hamas Movement asserted that Israeli use of the term “control” instead of “occupation” is “a blatant attempt to escape legal responsibility for its crimes.”

Hamas reaffirmed its readiness to reach a comprehensive deal to release all Israeli prisoners in exchange for an end to the war and full withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza.

The Movement also called on the United Nations and the International Criminal Court to act immediately to stop Israel’s plan and hold its leaders accountable.
