DayofPal– A dark night had unfolded in Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza Strip late Friday after Israeli tanks suddenly advanced into the vicinity of the hospital and started to fire at patients and medical teams inside.
Director of Kamal Adwan hospital Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya said that since Friday evening until Saturday’ morning, the Israeli army were continuing to shell the hospital’s emergency and reception entrance, the hospital grounds, electricity generators, and all gates.
He revealed that the intensive attack had injured 12 doctors, nurses, and administrative staff, who were inside the emergency and reception section. It also led to the disruption of the electricity generator, oxygen network, and water supply.
The loud sound and heavy gunfire caused fear and panic in the hearts of the injured and patients, including children and women.
The hospital’s remaining team is currently treating 86 injured people, with 8 are in intensive care unite and put on ventilators, and 13 children are receiving treatment in the pediatric department, with dozens cases of malnutrition.
So far more than 36 children have been died of malnutrition since the start of the Israeli war on Gaza, resulting from deliberate starvation policy by Netanyahu’s government against Gaza population, according to Gaza Government Media Office.
Dr. Hussam thereby has issued an urgent call to the world for immediate intervention to allow the entry of surgical medical teams, medical supplies, and ambulances.
He, in addition, has appealed for providing international protection for the healthcare system, staff and patients and wounded who are in need for humanitarian services around the clock.
Abu Safiya has several times accused the Israeli occupation of blocking the entry of food, water, medical staff, and medicines in addition to materials destined for the north, casting light on the dire situation of the hospital’s patients who have been succumbing to their injuries ona daily basis.
