DaysofPal — The Government Media Office (GMO) in the Gaza Strip on Monday rejected the false allegations by a senior United Nations official regarding an incident at a World Food Program (WFP) aid distribution center in northern Gaza.

The GMO denied remarks by Ramiz Alakbarov, the UN Deputy Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, who alleged that local security forces are interfering with humanitarian operations at a distribution site in the Jabalia refugee camp.

The media office said the incident did not constitute obstruction of aid efforts but rather a law enforcement operation carried out by Palestinian police to prevent the exploitation of humanitarian shipments for commercial smuggling.

According to the statement, police confiscated quantities of cigarettes and mobile phone screens hidden inside aid parcels, documenting the seizures through legal procedures.

The office said the intervention followed repeated calls from international organizations to strengthen security at aid distribution points and ensure that relief supplies are not diverted.

It criticized the UN official’s remarks as “hasty and misleading,” arguing they misrepresented the situation and failed to acknowledge the role of local authorities in safeguarding humanitarian assistance.

The statement also noted that the international actors are applying a selective narrative and criticized the UN official’s silence regarding Israeli crimes that resulted in the deaths of aid workers and damage to humanitarian infrastructure, including UNRWA facilities and aid convoys.

The Government Media Office called on the United Nations to retract the statement and issue an apology, reaffirming its commitment to protecting humanitarian operations in accordance with international law.

It also urged international bodies to focus attention on ongoing Israeli crimes and restrictions affecting Gaza’s civilian population.

Meanwhile, Palestinian officials said Israeli forces have continued to violate a ceasefire agreement in Gaza for the 276th consecutive day.

The truce was brokered on October 10, 2025, in Sharm El-Sheikh with Arab and U.S. mediation.

According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, at least 1,108 people have been killed and 3,578 injured in Israeli attacks and violations since the ceasefire took effect on October 11, 2025.

The ministry added that 800 bodies have been recovered, bringing the overall death toll since the beginning of the Israeli genocide in 2023 to 73,231, with 173,686 others wounded.
