Days of Palestine – Ramallah

Six Palestinian administrative detainees held in Israeli jails without charge or trial continue in their hunger strike, one of them for 45 days and another for 38 days, demanding their freedom, according to Hasan Abed Rabbo, from the Prisoners’ Affairs Commission.

He told WAFA that Kayed Fasfous, from Dora town in the south of the West Bank, has been on hunger strike for 45 days, followed by Miqdad Qawasmi, from Hebron, 38 days, Ahmad Hamamreh, from Beit Sahour, for 29 days, and Ala Araj, from Tulkarm, for 21 days, while the other two, Hisham Abu Hawwash, from Hebron, for 12 days, and the latest hunger-striking detainee is Raiq Bisharat, from Tubas, 44 years old who had his hands amputated in 2002 while his wife was killed by the Israeli soldiers and his son injured, started his hunger strike one week ago to protest his administrative detention.

Fasfous was taken to hospital on Thursday following deterioration on his health.

Some 40 Palestinian administrative detainees went on hunger strike since the start of the year to protest their detention, most have either won their freedom or had their imprisonment set to end at a specific date leading them to end their hunger strike.
