DaysofPal- At least 19 civilians, the majority of them women and children, were killed late Saturday when an Israeli warplane bombed a residential block belonging to the Daghmash family in the Sabra neighborhood, south of Gaza City.
Dozens of others were injured, while many others are still trapped under the rubble, according to local authorities.
Mahaoud Basal, spokesperson for Gaza’s Civil Defense, confirmed that four children and five women were among the victims.
He said rescue crews are still searching for missing people trapped beneath the rubble, but heavy destruction at the site has made access difficult.
Local sources reported that among the victims was Dr. Ashraf Mohammed Abu Mohsen, who was killed alongside his wife and children when their home was hit in the same strike.
The victims identified so far include Noura Mohammed Mansour Daghmash, Jana Mohammed Mansour Daghmash, Suheir Harbi Daghmash, Asmaa Ahmed Daghmash, Mansour Mashhour Daghmash, Mahmoud Mansour Daghmash, Mashhour Mansour Daghmash, Batoul Hamza Daghmash, and Noura Hamza Daghmash.
Shortly after the initial strike, Israeli warplanes carried out a second bombardment on the same residential area, compounding the destruction and hampering rescue efforts.
According to Gaza’s health authorities, Saturday’s Israeli crimes have pushed the death toll from the day’s attacks to at least 107.
