DaysofPal- The Government Media Office (GMO) in Gaza said Saturday that new data confirms the Israeli occupation forces are deliberately targeting civilians in its ongoing assault on the enclave, amounting to “a full-fledged genocide.”
Citing figures released by the independent conflict-monitoring organization ACLED (Armed Conflict Location & Event Data Project), the office said that 15 out of every 16 Palestinians killed by Israeli forces are civilians.
According to the data, civilians account for 94% of the total death toll, some 61,100 out of 65,174 people killed since the Israeli genocide began in October 2023.
“The documented data is conclusive evidence of Israel’s systematic and deliberate targeting of civilians, constituting war crimes and acts of genocide,” the media office said in a statement.
The figures align with a Guardian report published last month, which cited internal Israeli military data indicating that more than 83% of those killed since the start of the war were civilians.
The Gaza media office held the Israeli occupation, the United States, and other countries it accused of supporting the assault, fully responsible for the killings.
It also urged the international community, the United Nations, and international courts to take effective action to prosecute Israeli leaders and to stop what it called the mass killing of civilians, in line with international humanitarian law.
