Head of Hamas’s political bureau Ismail Haneyya said he asked the Russians to convey four options for the national reconciliation to the Palestinian Authority in Ramallah.
A high-level delegation from the Hamas Movement led by Haneyya met on Monday with Russian foreign minister Sergey Lavrov in Moscow and his deputy Mikhail Bogdanov.
In an interview conducted with him by RT satellite channel on the same day, Haneyya explained that the first option is to hold general election for the presidency and the legislative council, and later for the Palestinian National Council.
The second option, he said, is to convene the Palestinian National Council outside Ramallah in order to enable all factions to attend it and the third option is to hold a meeting for the heads of the factions in Cairo.
The fourth option is to form a national unity government able to run the Palestinian affairs at the current stage, the Hamas official added.
