DaysofPal – The Gaza Chamber of Commerce and Industry warned on Sunday, April 27, 2025, of catastrophic and unprecedented consequences stemming from the ongoing closure of border crossings, impacting every aspect of life in the besieged strip.
In a statement, the Chamber explained that the blockade has caused food prices to skyrocket, with increases exceeding 500%. The dire situation has also forced residents to rely on unsafe, non-potable water due to the lack of clean water supplies.
The statement emphasized that the prevention of humanitarian aid entry amounts to a deliberate policy of starvation being used as a weapon against Palestinians. As a result, poverty levels in Gaza have surged to over 90%.
The Chamber described the situation as a systematic form of collective punishment that blatantly violates international laws and norms.
It called for immediate facilitation of fuel, medical supplies, and food aid into Gaza, firmly rejecting the entry of humanitarian aid through private companies or via Israeli authorities.
The Chamber also reaffirmed its trust in the United Nations’ mechanisms for aid distribution in Gaza and categorically rejected any role for Israeli agencies in these operations.
