DayofPal– The Palestinian Prisoners’ Society reports that the Israeli prison authorities at Damoun Prison have escalated their measures against 13 female detainees, causing significant hardships for them.
According to the statement, the prison administration has distributed the detainees across three different rooms, aiming to isolate and create instability in their lives. The women are enduring severe cold conditions, with rooms lacking sufficient heating and windows left open.
The freezing temperatures have left the detainees complaining about a lack of proper clothing and blankets to combat the winter chill.
The daily routine for the detainees includes a morning break at 7:00 AM, but the detainees have requested a change in timing to avoid the biting cold. They have also expressed frustration with the poor treatment they receive from the prison guards, particularly when they are escorted to the clinic or for a visit with their lawyer.
In a particularly upsetting incident, a male guard entered the women’s rooms in the middle of the night while they were sleeping, doing so without prior permission. This intrusion has sparked outrage among the detainees.
Every Friday, a select group of detainees is subjected to a provocative procedure where they are locked in a cold cell for two hours. Additionally, meals provided to the detainees are often served cold, in small portions, and without any flavor, further adding to the inhumane conditions.
The families and human rights groups have condemned these atrocities against Palestinian detainees, calling for an end to the mistreatment and the immediate improvement of conditions for the female prisoners.
