This latest initiative comes amidst a long history of British, American, and Israeli schemes designed to liquidate the Palestinian cause and undermine the rights of its indigenous population.
A Legacy of Displacement Attempts
The roots of these displacement plans trace back to the early 20th century. In 1937, the British Peel Commission proposed dividing Palestine and forcibly removing Palestinians from areas with growing Jewish settlements, sparking widespread resistance during the Arab Revolt of 1936-1939. Following the Nakba of 1948, when hundreds of thousands of Palestinians were expelled from their homes, the “Sinai Plan” of 1953 sought to relocate Gazans to Egypt but was thwarted by steadfast Palestinian opposition.

Fast forward to October 2023, when Israel launched a devastating war against Gaza, accompanied by renewed calls for mass displacement.
