The Israeli occupation military has acknowledged that the increasing attacks by Jewish settlers against Palestinians in the West Bank are driving more Palestinians to join the resistance against the occupation forces and settlers.
Daniel Hagari, a spokesman for the Israeli military, said on Monday that the crimes committed by the Israeli settlers are “terrorism” and that they should be prevented to reduce the level of violence in the region.
Hagari’s statements came after a Palestinian youth, Qusai Ma’tan, was killed by two Israeli settlers’ fire in the village of Burqa last Friday. He said that such incidents push people who are not involved in terrorism to engage in it.
The Israeli security agency Shin Bet and the army chief of staff Herzi Halevi have also warned that Jewish terrorism increases the incentives for Palestinians to carry out armed operations against Israeli targets.
Meanwhile, Hagari also confirmed that there has been limited damage to the competencies of the air force due to protests by reserve personnel who oppose a plan to weaken the judiciary. He said that this damage could expand if the reservists do not comply with their military service obligations.
He added that the army is facing a challenge to maintain cohesion and competencies in the face of the political dispute in the country. He said that the military is the face of Israeli society and that when there is no consensus in society, it enters the military.
