Mass Israeli demonstrations were renewed on Saturday evening, January 28, 2023, in Tel Aviv, Haifa, Herzliya, Beersheba, and Jerusalem against the new Israeli government headed by Benjamin Netanyahu, for the fourth consecutive week.
Thousands of Israeli demonstrators began flocking to the extremist Israeli government buildings on Kaplan Street and Habima Square in Tel Aviv.
Israeli sources said that about 13,000 Israeli settlers participated in the marches against Netanyahu’s fascist government.
The occupation police preempted the demonstrations, closed several streets in Tel Aviv, and demanded that drivers use alternative roads.
Last week, more than 150,000 demonstrators took to the streets in several cities, protesting against the Netanyahu government and the plan of “Israeli Justice Minister” Yariv Levin.
The Netanyahu government seeks to make radical amendments to the judiciary and against minorities, and to legitimize “racism and discrimination,” which a wide segment of Israelis considers “targeting democracy and undermining the judicial system.”
On December 29, Netanyahu’s government, which includes parties from the Israeli far-right, took the constitutional oath in the Knesset and proceeded to perform its duties. The new far-right government started implementing controversial plans and decisions, especially about limiting the power of the judiciary and the control of the Ministry of National Security headed by the extremist minister, Itamar Ben Gvir over the “Israeli police”.
