Local activist Ahmad al-Halayqa said that about 80 acres of land planted with olive trees had been uprooted or damaged by extremist Jewish settlers descended from an illegal settlements and outposts on the occupied city.
“This is the fourth time settlers have uprooted or damaged olive trees in the same area,” he said, naming Al-Shuyoukh Neighbourhood.
The land, according to al-Halayqa, belongs to Mohamed al-Ayayda, Abdull-Qadir al-Ayayda and Mousa al-Ayayda. The uprooted trees were replanted after old trees were in the same place had been uprooted by the Jewish settlers.
Official statistics show that approximately 800,000 olive trees have been uprooted by Israeli occupation forces and settlers in the occupied West Bank since 1967, when the Israeli occupation occupied the Palestinian territories.
