DayofPal— Severe winter weather has intensified Gaza’s humanitarian crisis, killing at least 20 Palestinians after homes weakened by Israeli bombardment collapsed, according to Gaza’s Government Media Office.
Two children also died from extreme cold inside displacement tents in the last 24 hours.
The office also reported that 49 damaged buildings collapsed with the onset of winter, while more than 127,000 tents were rendered uninhabitable, leaving over 1.5 million displaced people without adequate shelter.
Three people remain missing under the rubble of collapsed structures in the enclave, with the unfolding situation reflecting the scale of human suffering.
The office added that 969 Israeli violations of the ceasefire since October 10, including live fire, military incursions, bombardments, and demolitions, resulting in 418 deaths, 1,141 injuries, and 45 arrests.
It also warned that Gaza faces a “slow death” as Israel continues to restrict aid. Only 19,764 of the 48,000 required aid trucks entered Gaza over 80 days, along with just 425 of 4,000 fuel trucks, crippling hospitals, bakeries, and water services.
The media office also sounded the alarm over a deepening shelter crisis, accusing Israel of deliberately keeping border crossings closed and blocking the entry of tents, mobile housing units and essential shelter materials, in a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law.
These measures, compounded by relentless winter weather, have driven the humanitarian situation in Gaza to unprecedented levels
The statement concluded that continued restrictions and ceasefire breaches are deepening an unprecedented humanitarian disaster and undermining efforts toward a lasting truce.
