Hamas Deputy Head Khalil Al-Hayya responded to recent US and Israeli media reports about the ongoing ceasefire talks concerning Gaza, in which Biden has pushed for a new proposal.
Al-Hayya reaffirmed that Hamas movement is still commitment to what was agreed upon and was inked in yhe Biden’s declaration in May and the Security Council resolution regarding the ceasefire.
He added that the movement has shown full seriousness and the necessary flexibility to finalize the ceasefire agreement. Netanyahu was evading, however.
“Any agreement must involve a halt for ongoing aggression, a full withdrawal from Gaza, including key areas and crossings, Natzarim and Philadelphi; unconditional return of displaced Palestinians to their homes in the north, the flow of humanitarian aid, and the reconstruction.
Al-Hayya reiterated that the movement does not need any new documents or proposals from anyone but rather demands that the Israeli occupation be compelled to implement its commitments.
Hamas demands a serious exchange deal and refuses to return to the starting point or perpetuate Netanyahu’s goals. The US administration and Biden must end their bias towards Israel,” Al-Hayya added.
He concluded that they will not accept any deal other than the one announced by Biden on July 2, which he claimed at the time Israel had accepted.
