DaysofPal- Attacks by Israeli settlers on Palestinian communities across the occupied West Bank intensified on Friday, with incidents including arson, physical assaults, and road closures, according to Palestinian local sources.
In the predawn hours, settlers set fire to a school in the village of Jalud, south of Nablus. Villagers rushed to the site and managed to contain the blaze after flames spread through the school’s sports hall, preventing the fire from reaching other parts of the building.
No injuries were reported, but residents said the attack caused widespread alarm and damage to the facility.
In another incident near Nablus, settlers assaulted an elderly Palestinian man with disabilities late Thursday night.
The attack took place near his workplace in the Deir Sharaf area, northwest of the city. Footage shared on social media shows settlers beating the man, identified as Basim Saleh, while he appeared unable to defend himself.
Local activists denounced the assault, describing it as part of an escalating pattern of settler violence.
Further south, in the Jerusalem area, settlers blocked the main access road to the Bedouin community of Khallat al-Sidra, near the village of Mikhmas, northeast of occupied Jerusalem.
The Jerusalem Governorate said the move effectively cut off the community, which has been subjected to repeated attacks by settlers and Israeli forces in recent months.
Palestinian officials say settler attacks have become increasingly frequent and are often carried out in the presence, or under the protection, of Israeli soldiers.
The Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission reports that such violence has led to the forced displacement of more than 33 Palestinian Bedouin communities since October 7, 2023.
Human rights organizations warn that the growing wave of settler violence is part of a broader strategy aimed at pressuring Palestinians to abandon their land, further heightening tensions across the occupied West Bank.
