DaysofPal— A senior United Nations official has described the plight of women in the Gaza Strip as one of the world’s most severe humanitarian crises, calling for international support proportional to their resilience amid ongoing conflict.
Sarah Hendricks, Deputy Executive Director of UN Women, warned of escalating violations against women in conflict zones, citing a growing culture of impunity.
“Women and girls in Gaza are enduring an extreme humanitarian disaster, where survival has become a daily struggle amid escalating violence,” Hendricks said.
She emphasized that the needs of women and girls go beyond mere survival, including dignity, justice, livelihoods, and meaningful roles in rebuilding society.
The UN official stressed that the resilience and leadership of Gaza’s women must be met with tangible international support, ensuring sustained humanitarian aid, protection, and investment in their empowerment.
