UN: Israel Drives 1200 Palestinians Out of Their Homes in Masafer Yatta

DayofPal– The United Nations Office for the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) has raised serious concerns over a sharp rise in the forced displacement of Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, particularly in the area of Masafer Yatta.

In recent reports, the OHCHR has documented intensified efforts by Israeli authorities to demolish Palestinian homes and seize land, atrocities that could displace more than 1,200 residents from their homes and ancestral lands.

According to the reports, Israeli occupation forces are implementing long-standing policies aimed at reducing Palestinian presence in large parts of the West Bank while expanding control over the territory.

The situation in Masafer Yatta, a rural area in the South Hebron Hills, is particularly alarming, with demolition orders and eviction plans regularly targeting Palestinian communities who rely heavily on farming and livestock for their livelihood.

Human rights experts warn that these actions may constitute forcible population transfer, which is considered a war crime under international law.

The UN Human Rights Office has called on the international community to intervene immediately to halt these measures, emphasizing that the forced eviction of civilians under occupation blatantly violates international human rights norms and the Geneva Conventions.

Masafer Yatta has long been a flashpoint in the Israeli-Palestinian struggle, with residents living under constant threat of displacement. Despite legal appeals and international condemnation, demolitions and land confiscations in the area have persisted, leaving entire communities at risk of losing their homes, land, and sources of income.

The OHCHR continues to monitor the situation closely and urges greater accountability and protection for Palestinian civilians living under occupation.

Meanwhile, Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission warned of settlers’ violence surge in the West bank, saying that at least 26 Palestinians have been killed in the West Bank by settler gunfire since the beginning of the genocide war.

Settlers’ attacks have surged to 5,000 so far since the start of the war, with the latest incident took place yesterday.

According to the Ministry of Health, three Palestinians were killed and at least seven others injured on Tuesday evening during a brutal assault by Israeli settlers and Israeli forces in the village of Kafr Malik, northeast of Ramallah.

Local sources reported that around 15 vehicles carrying armed settlers stormed the village at dusk, setting fire to homes and vehicles belonging to Palestinian residents.
