UK to Move its Embassy to Jerusalem is “Blatant” Violation, Palestinian Ambassador Warns

N.S | DOP -

Husam Zomlot, the Palestinian ambassador to the UK, said on Thursday, September 22, that the UK intentions to transfer its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem is a “blatant” violation of International law.

He tweeted: “it is extremely unfortunate that Prime Minister Liz Truss uses her first appearance at the UN to commit to potentially breaking international law by promising a “review” of the location of the British embassy to Israel,”

“Any embassy move would be a blatant violation of international law and the UK’s historic responsibilities. It undermines the two-state solution and enflames an already volatile situation in Jerusalem, the rest of the occupied territories and among communities in the UK and worldwide. Such promise is immoral, illegal and irresponsible!” He warned.

The UK newly elected PM, Liz Truss, met Israeli occupation PM on Wednesday, September 21, during the UN General Assembly meeting in New York where they discussed mutual profits.

In 2018, the former US President Donald Trump gave permission, in an Unprecedented move, to transfer the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem the matter that triggered an outrageous anger to the Palestinians.

Israeli Occupation had invaded East Jerusalem and the West Bank in 1976 and took control of the region since, which is considered illegitimate under International law.
