DaysofPal– Turkey has condemned the Israeli occupation’s violations against journalists, calling upon the Israeli occupation to immediately halt the illegal actions targeting journalists, following the detention of a Turkish television crew.
Burhantin Duran, head of communications at the Turkish presidency, said targeting journalists while they are performing their professional duties and depriving them of their freedom is absolutely unacceptable.
In a post on the Turkish social media platform “In Sosyal,” Duran strongly condemned the Israeli detention of Amina Qawas Oglu, program director at A Haber, along with members of her reporting team, and expressed solidarity with them.
“Targeting journalists while they are carrying out their profession and depriving them of their freedom is completely unacceptable,” Duran wrote.
He stressed that the safety of journalists and the public’s right to receive accurate and impartial information are fundamental rights guaranteed under international law.
Duran urged Israeli occupation to “immediately put an end to these illegal practices that clearly violate press freedom.”
“We will always continue to oppose such attempts to target journalists,” he added.
