DaysofPal- In a devastating revelation, Gaza’s Health Ministry reports that children account for at least 30% of the Palestinians killed in Israeli attacks on Gaza since the start of the genocide in October 2023.
This staggering statistic translates to an average of 28 children losing their lives every day, highlighting the severe impact of the ongoing Israeli war on Gaza’s youngest and most vulnerable residents, mainly, women and children.
As of early September 2025, the death toll in Gaza has reached a heartbreaking 64,231, with women and children comprising the majority of the casualties.
Over 161,583 individuals have been injured, and many bodies remain trapped under rubble, suggesting that the actual numbers could be higher as the Israeli genocide continues.
The brutal reality of the Israeli war was starkly illustrated on September 5, 2025, when at least seven children were killed in a single night due to Israeli airstrikes targeting homes and tents sheltering displaced families across Gaza City.
Tragically, the dangers for children extend beyond the Israeli war as many have also succumbed to secondary causes like famine and malnutrition.
In just the past 24 hours, three more children died from malnutrition, raising the total child fatalities from hunger to 131.
The vulnerability of children in Gaza is exacerbated by harsh living conditions.
Displaced families often reside in overcrowded camps or makeshift shelters, with limited access to medical care, food, and clean water.
These dire circumstances increase the risk of injury, illness, and death among civilians, particularly vulnerable categories such as children with disabilities, such as a 14-year-old girl with cerebral palsy who lost her wheelchair while fleeing and urged her family to leave her behind, underscoring the extreme challenges faced by the most defenseless.
