Three Months Without Tents as Gaza Aid Drops Sharply

Gaza is facing a worsening humanitarian crisis as aid deliveries continue to decline sharply, while shelter supplies remain blocked amid ongoing conflict and restrictions.

Aid experts say the amount of assistance entering the enclave falls far below minimum needs, as hundreds of thousands of displaced families continue to live in overcrowded and deteriorating tent camps.

According to Jihad Aslim, deputy head of the Association of Private Transport Companies, the flow of humanitarian aid into Gaza has dropped significantly over the past six months. He said only about 40 trucks are entering the territory daily, a level he described as insufficient to meet basic needs.

He added that trade is now largely controlled by a small number of merchants, with the total number of aid and commercial trucks not exceeding 160 per day, despite rapidly rising demand. He called for reopening crossings and increasing the flow of essential goods.

Reconstruction expert Naji Sarhan said that no tents have been allowed into Gaza for three months, even as displacement continues to grow.

He estimated that around 85% of the population is currently living in temporary tents or makeshift shelters, many of which have deteriorated and are no longer suitable for use. He said at least 100,000 new tents are urgently needed.

Sarhan also warned that repeated military operations and expanding restricted zones are forcing continuous waves of displacement, further worsening living conditions for civilians.

Meanwhile, nearly two million people are now confined to a heavily restricted area of roughly 110 square kilometers, amid severe shortages of food, water, fuel, and medical supplies.

Infrastructure and public services continue to collapse, leaving aid efforts severely constrained as humanitarian needs grow daily.
