DayofPal– Israeli forces have intensified their assault on northern Gaza, unleashing simultaneous attacks on Al-Awda, Kamal Adwan, and the Indonesian hospitals, on Tuesday.
In Jabalia’s Tel Al-Zaatar area, relentless shelling engulfed Al-Awda Hospital’s central medicine warehouse in flames, reducing vital supplies to ash. The fiery chaos spread to nearby homes, as intense bombardment and tank shells turned the neighborhood into a blazing inferno, leaving destruction and despair in their wake.
Under the relentless crackle of gunfire echoing at its gates, Israeli forces compelled patients and the wounded in the Indonesian Hospital to flee on foot. Weak and injured, the patients left their refuge amidst the unyielding storm of Israeli bullets.
In Beit Lahia, Kamal Adwan Hospital has been under a constant target of relentless drone strikes and barrel bombs. The Israeli army, while imposing a siege for over 80 days, has continued to place bobby traps and explosive boxes at the entrances of the hospital. Twenty medical staff and patients were injured as a result, their sanctuary turned into a battlefield, as the place meant to heal bore the brunt of devastation
The Ministry of Health stressed that Israeli forces are systematically targeting hospitals to render them non-operational. Continuous strikes on Kamal Adwan Hospital caused extensive damage and terrified patients.
Speaking to Al Jazeera, Dr. James Smith, a British emergency physician who has worked on medical missions to Gaza, said that “There is nothing legitimate about targeting hospitals. What we have seen over the past 14 months is the systematic decimation of the Palestinian healthcare system.”
“We know that hospitals and healthcare workers sustain life and are meant to offer some safety and sanctuary. So targeting those hospitals forms part of Israel’s wider strategy to ethnically cleanse and exterminate the Palestinian people from the north of Gaza,” he added.
He further said: “To destroy and to disable Kamal Adwan, to psychologically terrorise the healthcare workers and patients, there is part of a strategy to pressure the remaining 75,000 Palestinians in the north to be forcibly displaced towards the south.”
Since October 7, over 153,000 Palestinians have been reported killed or injured, mostly women and children. More than 11,000 remain missing. The Palestinian Ministry of Health said over 100 medical staff have been killed with 36 hospitals have been rendered out of service due to Israeli constant attacks.
