DaysofPal- Palestinian resistance factions in Gaza released a new group of Israeli captives in exchange for 110 Palestinian prisoners, including children, who are set to be freed from Israeli jails later today.
Among those released was Agam Berger, a 20-year-old Israeli soldier, who was handed over by Hamas’s Al-Qassam Brigades. She was reportedly found under the rubble of a destroyed house in Jabalia refugee camp, northern Gaza, before being released in a formal handover ceremony.
The second release took place in Khan Yunis, in southern Gaza, near the ruins of the home of Yehya Sinwar, Hamas’s top leader in Gaza. There, Arbel Yehoud and Gadi Mozes, both Israeli civilians, were freed by Islamic Jihad’s Al-Quds Brigades.
The exchange also resulted in the release of five Thai workers. All captives were handed over to Red Cross crews in both northern and southern Gaza before being transferred to the Israeli occupation forces and transported into Israel (1948 occupied territory).
Meanwhile, buses carrying the 110 Palestinian prisoners released by Israel have arrived in the West Bank, where large crowds have gathered in Ramallah to welcome them. Cheering and celebrations erupted as detainees were expected to be freed shortly, with the Red Cross overseeing the transfer.
However, the release was marred by violence, as Israeli forces opened fire on family members waiting outside Ofer Military Prison, where many of the detainees were held. Additionally, Israeli forces launched a raid in Beitunia, attempting to suppress Palestinian celebrations following the prisoner release.
Earlier, two buses carrying Palestinian prisoners departed from Ofer Prison, while the occupation forces fired tear gas at Palestinians in the vicinity of the prison.
Hamas stated that “the massive reception of our released prisoners, despite the occupation’s attempts to abuse their families, is a message that the prisoners’ issue is a red line.”
Local sources reported the arrival of 9 of the released prisoners within this batch to the Strip.
The third batch of the prisoner exchange agreement includes 110 Palestinian prisoners, including those sentenced to life imprisonment and high sentences.
Among those released in this batch is Zakaria al-Zubaidi, a leader in the “Al-Aqsa Martyrs” who is known as one of the heroes of the “Freedom Tunnel” who managed to escape from the Israeli Gilboa prison before being re-arrested by the occupation.
Meanwhile, Palestinian sources said that the occupation forces prevented a number of families of the released prisoners who were deported from traveling to meet their sons.
