The Israeli Occupation Targets Palestinian Homes with live Ammunition in Masafer Yatta

H.JA| DOP -

The Israeli occupation forces targeted on Wednesday  the houses of citizens in Masafer Yatta, south of Hebron, with live ammunition

The coordinator of the Protection and Resilience Committees in Masafer Yatta and the South Hebron Mountains, Fuad Al-Amour, told Palestinian News & Information Agency-WAFA that the occupation forces targeted, with live ammunition, the homes of citizens in the Khallet al-Daba community in Masafer Yatta, which resulted in damage to the roofs and walls of four houses belonging to citizens of The Dababseh family after being directly hit by live bullets. This led to a state of fear and panic prevailed among the children and women.

He added that for days, the Israeli occupation forces have been carrying out live ammunition exercises in the “Bir al-Qat” area near the Al-Halawa community, and in the vicinity of a number of residential communities in Masafer Yatta,

Masafer Yatta is an area dwelled by a Palestinian community that is currently threatened with demolition and displacement. The occupation aims to intimidate the residents and threaten their lives, to push them to leave those areas in favor of settlement expansion.

It is noteworthy that the Israeli occupation Supreme Court had rejected, earlier this year, a petition submitted by the Palestinian inhabitants of 12 residential communities in Masafer Yatta against the occupation’s decision to declare their communities “firing zones”

This allowed these forces to continue carrying out military exercises in those areas on by demolishing these communities and displacing their residents in what is considered the second largest displacement since Al-nakba (the Palestinian catastrophe).
